Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad presides over 9th Council Meeting of NBEAC

The ninth council meeting of the National Business Education Accreditation Council (NBEAC) was held on January 24, 2013 at Lecture Hall, Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. Prof Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Chairman NBEAC, presided over the meeting. The meeting started in the name of Allah Almighty. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman welcomed the council members and briefed them about the tremendous progress made by NBEAC in the past few months. 

The Chairman reported that after pilot project of ten business programs, NBEAC has performed accreditation visits for 6 programs and 3 business schools. The accreditation awarding decision for the 3 business schools has been done during the meeting. He also reported that NBEAC has performed eight Accreditation Guidance Committee (AGC) visits to guide the business schools for preparation of Self-Assessment Report. He appreciated the AIC and AGC members for their commitment to make the visits successful and spared their precious time for the visits. In response to the ABE- Level 6 proposal, Dr Hasan advised the Country Head Mr Abidi to elaborate their agenda and forward to relevant departments of HEC. 

During the meeting, Accreditation Inspection Reports (AIC) reports of Jinnah University for Women, ISRA, Hyderabad and NUML, Islamabad, were reviewed by the council members. The council decided to award accreditation to two business schools and four programs. All the participants confirmed the decisions taken in eighth council meeting. The complete Rubric for nine proformae was approved by the Council members along with the weightages of proformae. The expense statement 2012-13 of NBEAC was also presented before the council members. It was proposed to write to different stakeholders to raise funds to strengthen the functions of the council. 

At the end of the meeting, First Accreditation Award Ceremony was held to present shields and certificates and reports to the deans and directors of accredited business schools. Being the chief guest, Dr Javaid Laghari, Chairman HEC, applauded the progress of the Business Council. He commented that only prosperity and economics will be the outcome at the end of the day; so the quality of business education should be ensured strictly to produce good quality product.
