Ms. Naveda Kitchlew specializes in the management of higher education at national, regional, and global scales. Her doctorate in business administration with a specialization in higher education management coupled with a vast experience spanning over twenty-five years and covering teaching and administrative roles in the Middle East, the UK, and the US makes her a conspicuous educationist. During her career, she has assumed leadership roles in transforming the curriculums, revamping academic programs, and institutionalizing the internationalization of higher education strategy.                                                                                                                                              

Extensive experience as a project leader and corporate workshop facilitator. As an administrator in higher education institutions, she has conducted organizational assessments, facilitated strategic planning, coordinated intervention strategies, evaluated outcomes, created and/or updated and communicated new policies and procedures. In her role as Associate Dean Internationalization & Academics at University of Management and Technology, she led the implementation of Internationalization strategy for creating a global impact. Alongside her role as an Associate professor, she was the Focal person for the National and International accreditations at UMT from 2014-19. During her tenure as Dean of the School of Business and Economics, Dr. Kitchlew reevaluated the strategic direction of SBE before implementing initiatives to align and benefit from national and international trends and economic conditions.                                                                                                                                        

Dr. Kitchlew holds a doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Bath, UK. She travels across the globe for her academic and consulting assignments.

Strategic Issues in Higher Education and Development

My current effort is to connect University of Management and Technology to foreign faculty and other entities to teach and work with different departments. I am one of the team members working to standardize and benchmark academic courses at UMT so that the bar of teaching and learning is raised to international standards.
  • Over thirty years of successful High school and University experience with proven record of exemplary teaching. A career dedicated and committed to students’ counseling in behavioral and academic issues surrounding student progress and special activities.
  • Planned and implemented multi-ethnic activities that resulted in cross cultural improvement among students, staff and faculty from different cultural and geographic backgrounds.
  •  Conducted faculty workshops for teaching skills and methods in classroom; supervised and participated in college fairs and academic events; professional mentoring and organizational training of undergraduate and graduate student interns.

Assistant Professor:

  • Taught full load of seven courses in an academic year in the Management Department.
  • Introduced and developed MSHRM program.

Associate Professor:

  • Taught all assigned courses and fulfilled additional work in committees and workshop.

Experience in Administrative Position:

  • Conduct organizational assessments, facilitate strategic planning, coordinate intervention strategies, and evaluate outcomes; create and/or update and communicate new policies and procedures.

Chairperson of Management Department:

  • Restructured management teaching to outcome-based methodology. Achieved structured goals through teamwork. Ensured the new way of teaching with cases, scenarios, ethical dilemmas and activities for hands on practices.

 

  • Executive MBA: Investigated the performance gaps in meeting various stakeholders’ expectations. The update of Executive MBA took place with a more customized approach. Director Executive MBA was appointed, whose hard work took this program to the next level.
  • MS Management office was established under Management Department. MS program was streamlined and updated, and MS Director was appointed.

Associate Dean Academics and Internationalization:

  • Fully supported the Dean SBE in new initiatives and ongoing projects.
  • Office of Internationalization, OIN had a three-prong strategy which included Internationalization through partnerships with International Universities and organizations, National and International Accreditations of the Business School and Sustainable Development Initiatives. From 2015 – 2019 detailed reports of the outstanding achievements of these three offices are available for review.
  • In 2016, our team started SME Conference, I was the Conference Chair. SME conference was a unique annual conference because it was first time that flagship government agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Government of Pakistan partnered with a university for an academic conference. We managed to arrange entire funds from external sources to arrange 1st, 2nd, and 3rd SME Conference from 2016 to 2019 respectively. Conference was a huge success in terms of having international partnerships, and participation of all stakeholders from government, international development agencies, private sector, and academia.    
  • As the Focal Person of SBE’s Accreditation Committee, I led the Accreditation team for SBE’s NBEAC reaccreditation.

Dean SBE:

  • Reformulated the internal structure of the Business school to fully employ the resources and to realign with the industry and with the ever changing dynamics of the market. Successfully, utilized the corporate experience to connect with the academic world.
  • Reevaluated strategic direction of SBE before implementing initiatives to align and benefit from national and international trends and economic conditions.
