ICAISAI-26 at HSM Showcases Research-Innovation-and AI-Driven Insights

The Department of Information Systems at the Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM), University of Management and Technology (UMT) successfully hosted the International Conference on Advancements in Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ICAISAI’26) on January 27, 2026, at Hakeem Saeed Hall. The conference brought together academics, researchers, industry professionals, and students to explore emerging developments in information systems and artificial intelligence.

The conference commenced with an opening session led by Ms. Salwa Akhtar, Chairperson of the Department of Information Systems, who highlighted the transformative role of information systems and artificial intelligence in advancing research, innovation, and industry collaboration.

The event featured a series of keynote talks by distinguished industry experts, including Mr. Usman Muhammad Ali (CEO, INNOVA Networks), Mr. Anzar Nawaiz (Content Curator, SimpliTaught), Mr. Haider Ali (CEO, Fresh@Live), and Mr. Muhammad Umar Farooq Rana (SVP E-Commerce & Digital Retail, DevSinc). Their sessions explored how AI-driven systems, digital platforms, and data-centric technologies are shaping the future of business and innovation.

A highlight of the conference was the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, where MS students presented their research ideas in a concise and impactful format. The competition was evaluated by Mr. Muhammad Usama Majeed (Lecturer, National University of Modern Languages), Ms. Sumaira Aslam (Lecturer, The College of Arts, Science and Technology, UMT), and Mr. Abdur Rehman (Senior Lecturer, University of Central Punjab), who assessed participants on research clarity, presentation effectiveness, and analytical depth.

The conference also featured a lively Trivia Competition for undergraduate students, judged by Mr. H. M. Shahzad (Assistant Professor, Superior University) and Mr. Shahid Mehmood (Lecturer, University of Central Punjab), who evaluated participants on their knowledge, reasoning, and critical thinking abilities.

Another major attraction was the UG Project Exhibition Competition, where undergraduate students showcased innovative semester projects demonstrating practical applications of programming, data science, and machine learning. The exhibition was evaluated by Mr. Asad Ullah Rafi (DevOps & Cloud Trainer, NeXskill) and Ms. Aysha Qayyum (Assistant Professor, HSM–UMT), whose expert insights enriched the evaluation process and highlighted the practical relevance of the showcased projects.

A significant milestone during the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INNOVA Networks and HSM–UMT, formalized by Dr. Ramla Sadiq, Associate Dean HSM–UMT, and Ms. Fatima Usmani, Director INNOVA Networks, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening industry–academia collaboration.

Through keynote talks, competitions, and project exhibitions, ICAISAI’26 provided a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, research communication, and innovation, reinforcing HSM’s commitment to advancing information systems and artificial intelligence research while fostering strong industry engagement.
